Honey Orchid Dancong Hongcha Dark Milk
Honey Orchid Dancong Hongcha Dark Milk is one of Fossa Chocolate's most decorated bars — a winner of the International Chocolate Awards 2019 Gold Award, and a collaboration with rare tea curator Pekoe & Imp that has become a benchmark in the craft chocolate world.
Honey Orchid (蜜兰香, Mi Lan Xiang) is a dancong tea cultivated in the Phoenix Mountain of Guangdong Province, China. Made into a Hongcha — a Western-style black tea — this varietal is naturally sweet and fruity, producing aromas that genuinely mimic lychee and red date without any added flavouring. The first lot used in this bar was from the Spring 2010 harvest in Shen Ya Village, aged eight years before use to develop a smooth, creamy character with very low astringency.
Paired with biscuity Kokoa Kamili cacao from Tanzania, the lychee fragrance and red date sweetness of the tea complement the chocolate's natural character in a way that feels inevitable. This is what great craft chocolate collaboration looks like.
